REVIEW OF THE NATIONAL MUSIC COUNCIL
At the NMC 2007 AGM attendees were presented with a Review of the National Music Council, 'Beyond a National Music Council'. (click here to download) The Review was undertaken in the light of changes that have taken place within the music sector over the last couple of years and the need for the NMC to consider ways in which it might adjust and re-position itself so as to make the most useful contribution to every aspect of UK musical activity. The Fourth R (Campaign for Music in the School Curriculum, 1998) published in collaboration with the Music Industries Association and Music Education Council, summarised research evidence drawn from Hungary, Switzerland and the USA linking children's learning of music with enhanced abilities in other subjects and improved social skills. |
